What we need to finish ASAP

Thought I'd make a list of the assignments you've gotten so far, and thus need to finish. Some of you have done them all (more or less) , and some of you have more to do. This is just so you know.

  • Music video presentation
  • Sweden is Fantastic presentation
  • Movie pitch - written assignment
  • Poetry assignment - in your blogs
  • Book diary - write while you read a classic English/American novel
  • Short story - written assignment
If you have questions about any of these, just ask.

List of coming assignments (what you for example can work with during your APU) as follows:

  • Book review - when you've finished reading your book
  • Short story reading - when your story is finished I want you to read it to me. Practice!
  • APU blog - in English. This is something you have to do while you're away. Just write whatever you are supposed to be writing (ask Stefan if you don't know), but do it in English.
  • APU report. Same as above.
Like I said - ask if you have questions.

How to read out loud

Short story writing

The idea here is to use the notes you have on one of the characters from the movie, and put that character into a short story. You can write about anything, but make sure that I can recognize the character you use. For example, if you've chosen someone who is mean & strong in the movie, he should be mean & strong in your story as well. Lenght of story should be 1-5 pages, maybe more.

Poetry - after reading

1. You've read a lot of poetry now (hopefully), but what can poetry actually be used for? Brainstorm 'How to use poetry' in groups of 3-4 people.

2. Choose a favouite poem from the ones you have read. In your blogs, write down why you chose that particular poem. Please go beyond 'because I think it's good'.

3. Go back to your brainstorming session (or hold another one, in private...), and think about how you would use this, your favourite poem, to its greatest effect. Write this down in your blogs as well.

4. If there's time, find a friend to share first your poem, then your reasons for choosing it and, last but not least, how you would use it.
